I'm having trouble sleeping, any ideas?

For a long time i have been having trouble falling to sleep and getting quality sleep. To try and time how long it took on average to fall asleep me and my sister recorded me sleeping for a few nights, from what we could tell of me shuffling and opening my eyes it took me over 2 hours to fall asleep each night. Now for a few months i have stopped sleeping on saturday nights and occasionally other nights. I have tried lots of things to try and help, i don't drink anything with caffeine, i don't drink alcohol, i don't smoke and i have a regular time i go to bed with an hour of resting beforehand. I'm not sure what else to do since my GP refuses to let me take sleeping aid because she thinks its just a phase, but i'm beginning to see myself slowly deteriorate. My skin is getting awful, i can't concentrate and my hair is falling out. Would love some help from someone please.
